After an absence of nearly five years, Respawn Entertainment has officially confirmed the return of Solos mode to Apex Legends with the launch of the upcoming season, Upheaval.
The Return of Solos
The return of Solos mode has been solidified with a mention on the splash page for the next season: “Stand alone in Solos. It’s every Legend for themselves, and all eyes are on you.” The accompanying image also teases the addition of Alter, the newest member of the Apex Legends roster.
Permanent or Limited-Time?
It remains unclear whether Solos mode will return as a permanent addition to Apex Legends or if it will be available for a limited time during the Upheaval season. Solos was initially introduced during the Iron Crown Collection event in August 2019 but was only available temporarily to gather player feedback before determining its future within the game.
Born from stone with tremendous power. Trained in the art of assassination. A hunter of the old ways. If you ask Alter "Who are you?" she will never give you an honest answer. pic.twitter.com/5TCOHsd3sF

Past Challenges and Hope for the Future
Although the original Solos mode was popular among players, issues like rampant teaming undermined its integrity.
Respawn’s initial stance on Solos suggested that Legends were designed to complement team play, casting doubts on the mode’s return. However, other battle royale titles like Fortnite and Call of Duty have successfully integrated solo modes, offering players a break from team-based gameplay.
