In a recent interview, Heung-Min Son, the renowned football star from Tottenham Hotspur, opened up about his passion for gaming, particularly League of Legends (LoL), while praising esports legend Faker and revealing his favorite team.

Though widely known for his football skills, Heung-Min Son is also an avid gamer. On Monday, Riot Games released an interview where the South Korean footballer shared insights into his gaming life.

He revealed his love for LoL and how his journey as a player began during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite being a football superstar, Son had to start from scratch, much like any beginner, and quickly found himself gravitating toward the jungle role.

In the interview, Son shared his fondness for playing champions like Lee Sin, Nidalee, Vi, Viego, and Rammus. He mentioned that he watched professional matches to improve his gameplay, leading him to develop a fascination with the competitive esports scene, especially the LCK (League of Legends Champions Korea).

When asked about his favorite team, Son did not hesitate to express his admiration for T1, particularly its iconic player, Faker. Son reminisced about his visit to the T1 offices a few years ago when the Tottenham Hotspur squad was on a tour in South Korea.

He fondly recalled meeting Faker and the team:Three years ago, we went to South Korea with the Spurs, and after training, we got to visit T1. We took a photo together, and I had a brief connection with Faker,” Son shared.

He didn’t hold back his praise for the esports legend, stating,For me, Faker is the greatest player in esports history. Maintaining such a high level of performance for over 10 years… It’s simply incredible.

Son also reflected on the similarities between himself and Faker, noting that both have represented South Korea on the global stage, albeit in different fields. While Son has been a leading figure in football, Faker is currently competing in the Worlds 2024 Semifinals, aiming to bring glory to South Korea once again.
