Aurora Withdraws from PGL Wallachia Match Against Parivision Due to Controversial Bug

25. April 2025 by Francisco Villafana

The PGL Wallachia #4, Dota 2 tournament has been shaken by controversy following a technical bug that halted the decisive match between Aurora and Parivision. Game 3 of the Upper Bracket Final qualification was paused for over an hour, ending with Aurora forfeiting the match.

The Bug Appears Mid-Game

During a key team fight, Parivision took down three Aurora heroes. Magnus and Warlock used their buyback options, but Doom, played by Nightfall, was unable to revive. After investigation, it was revealed that a bug in Doom’s “Pact with the Devil” shard caused the system to apply an extra 20% to his buyback cost.

Key Issues Identified

  • Doom’s buyback was blocked due to a bug miscalculating his required gold.

  • The system added a duplicate 20% gold penalty, making it impossible to revive.

  • The bug was confirmed by both teams, causing a major disruption.

PGL Proposes a Restart, Aurora Refuses

To solve the issue, PGL suggested restarting the match at minute 51:00, with Parivision agreeing to a 90-second non-aggression rule. However, Aurora demanded the restart happen 20 seconds earlier, before the team fight that led to the deaths. Since Parivision did not accept, Aurora chose to withdraw, resulting in a 2-1 defeat.

What’s Next for Aurora

Now relegated to the lower bracket, Aurora must face Tundra Esports in an elimination match. This incident has reignited debate about competitive integrity and technical reliability in Dota 2 tournaments.
