League of Legends Wild Rift Patch 6.0: New Game Modes, Skins, Map and More

8. January 2025 by Valentin Pasetti

Riot Games is kicking off 2025 with a significant update for League of Legends: Wild Rift. Patch 6.0, launching on January 9, brings exciting changes, including a brand-new map, gameplay mechanics, champions, skins, and events. Here’s everything you need to know.

New Map Design and Features

The Wild Rift map undergoes a visual transformation, immersing players in the whimsical Bundle City, the magical Yordle homeland. Alongside this aesthetic change, new mechanics are introduced:

  • Magical Mushrooms: These spawn under towers at the 1-minute mark, providing gold when collected. Towers farther from the base have more mushrooms.
  • Portals: Strategic mobility options are available with portals appearing at different intervals. Four portals connect the base to the jungle at 7:30 minutes, with additional portals between Blue Buff and Krugs at 12 minutes.

New Creatures and Buff Updates

Unique creatures debut in Patch 6.0:

  • Rift Herald Orchestra: Composed of three instruments—Fantasy Organ, War Drum, and Fantasy Trumpet—this whimsical entity splits into components after attacking a turret, dealing melee and ranged damage.
  • Baron Nashor: Now a glowing purple guitar, Baron emits musical notes when attacked, while retaining its recall speed and movement speed buffs.

Minions also receive updates:

  • Super Minions: Reduced incoming damage.
  • Siege Minions: Deal area damage.
  • Ranged Minions: Heal allies.

Buffs now scale over time. At 7:30 minutes, buffs can be shared with a single player, and by 12 minutes, buffs are distributed to the entire team.

Patch 6.0 expands the champion pool:

  • Rumble: A fiery addition to the roster.
  • Gnar: The lovable prehistoric Yordle.
  • Poppy: The steadfast hammer-wielding defender.

Additionally, Corki receives a rework, making his Missile Barrage more impactful by spawning his package nearby after multiple ult hits.

This chaotic mode introduces unique spell buffs tied to champion abilities. With over 40 champions available, it promises fast-paced, unpredictable gameplay set in Summoner’s Rift.

  • Support Mechanics: Supports can now designate a “Best Partner” based on shared gold. This duo gains bonus movement speed when moving toward each other.
  • New Items:
    • Kaenic Rookern: A tank item providing an AP shield.
    • Yordle Trap: Adds health, haste, and a trapping mechanic for mischievous plays.
