Riot Games has officially announced the return of two fan-favorite game modes, ARURF (All Random Ultra Rapid Fire) and Arena, as part of League of Legends’ Season 1 in 2025. With exciting updates, new mechanics, and map changes, these modes promise fresh gameplay experiences for players.
Arena’s Comeback in Act II of Season 1
Arena is slated to return during Act II of League of Legends Season 1, arriving with Patch 25.S1.5 on March 4, 2025, assuming the season remains evenly divided. Riot’s dev update revealed significant changes and additions to enhance the Arena experience.
Noxian-Themed Updates
One of the biggest changes is the introduction of a Noxus-themed map, inspired by gladiator pits. This map will feature a unique mechanic that sets it apart from previous Arena maps, though Riot has yet to provide further details.
In addition, the Guests of Honor system will debut. This allows players to vote on which notable Noxian characters will alter game rules during matches. The system is set to replace the old Cameos feature, adding a layer of player agency and variety.
New Items and Augments
As with previous iterations, new items and augments will be introduced to keep the gameplay fresh. Riot has also promised changes to the Koi Pond map, incorporating feedback from the community to refine the player experience.
ARURF Kicks Off Season 1
Before Arena’s return, ARURF will be available throughout Act I of Season 1. Riot plans to have a rotating game mode active at all times during the season, ensuring continuous variety for players.
What’s New in League of Legends Season 1?
Season 1 of League of Legends marks a major thematic shift, with the game adopting a Noxian-centric aesthetic. The season introduces several updates both inside and outside of the Rift:
- New Tier 3 Boots: Enhanced movement options arrive on the Rift, adding a new layer to item builds.
- Epic Monster Atakhan: A formidable new neutral objective makes its debut.
- Noxian-Themed Rift: The entire Summoner’s Rift will receive a Noxian makeover, from the Shopkeeper’s design to turret visuals.
Battle Pass Changes and Free Skins
Season 1 also revamps the Battle Pass system. Players can now earn free skins, with the Masque of the Black Rose skin line launching first. Elise’s skin will be available as a free reward, giving players additional incentives to complete the Battle Pass.
