In a recent interview, Guangyun Chen, the director of Marvel Rivals, shared exciting details about NetEase’s plans to introduce new heroes to the game. The primary strategy will revolve around the game’s seasons, with a consistent release schedule aimed at keeping the community engaged.
New Heroes Every 6 Weeks
Each season of Marvel Rivals will last for three months, and will be divided into two halves. During each half-season, a new hero will be introduced to the game. This means that players can expect a fresh hero to be released approximately every month and a half moving forward.
This steady cadence of new additions is designed to keep the game dynamic and exciting for its community. According to Chen, the goal is to “keep improving the experience and, of course, keep everyone excited in our community” by offering regular updates and fresh content.
Seasonal Themes and New Content
In addition to new heroes, every season will also bring new thematic stories and maps, further enhancing the gaming experience. The selection of new heroes will be tied to the season’s narrative and themes, providing cohesive and strategic additions to the game. Chen explained that this approach ensures the new heroes complement the overall seasonal experience.
Currently, the game offers a balanced selection of heroes, with eight Vanguard and seven Strategist characters available at launch. The development team plans to add more Duelists in the future to round out the hero roster and offer more strategic options.
Community Involvement and Feedback
Chen also expressed his gratitude towards the community for their feedback on the heroes. This feedback will play a significant role in the selection and release timing of future characters. The goal is to ensure players feel heard and excited about the upcoming content, further strengthening the relationship between the development team and the community.
