Undoubtedly, one of the greatest streaks for a LoL team is that of Dplus KIA, who qualified for the fifth consecutive LoL Worlds.

Dplus KIA qualifies for LoL Worlds

Dplus KIA, formerly DAMWON Gaming, has consistently competed at the top of the LCK rankings. Since 2019, when the team moved up to LCK, they have been among the top teams in the world, and this year will be no different.

This time, the Dplus KIA team was the last LCK squad to qualify for the 2023 Worlds. This lineup performed poorly during the summer and was eliminated from the LCK playoffs. However, one way or another, Dplus KIA made it to the LoL Worlds held in the team’s homeland.

DK faced Hanwha Life Esports in the final deciding series yesterday, August 26, after defeating DRX in the first round of the regional finals. And despite being underdogs, DK prevailed against HLE, winning 3-1 in a hard-fought battle that lasted over 30 minutes in all four games to secure the last spot in the Worlds.

Dplus KIA’s important streak

Although DK qualified as the last team in the LCK, they have an outstanding record and rank as the best in the region. Since joining the League, Dplus KIA has consistently qualified for the Worlds, either from a regional final or winning the championship.

It is important to note that two of Dplus KIA’s players have remained with the team for the past five years. These two players are ShowMaker and Canyon, who have been a key part of the team’s consistent participation in LoL Worlds.

On the other hand, we have Deft, an ADC player who, after winning last year’s championship together with DRX, participates for the sixth time in the Worlds. He and Pyosik are the only players from the list of world champions to participate again this year.

DK is Deft’s sixth team to participate in the World Championships, adding to his impressive record. The teams with which Deft participated in the Worlds are as follows:

  • Samsung Blue
  • EDward Gaming
  • KT Rolster
  • DRX
  • Hanwha Life Esports

Dplus KIA’s Performance at Worlds

Given that they have consistently been among the top eight teams in all the Worlds tournaments they have participated in, the organization is undoubtedly one of the most reliable in their performance. They will be part of the LCK quartet, representing the zone this year, along with KT Rolster, T1, and Gen.G. For their part, DK may be one of the favorites among the eastern clubs thanks to the new format and the home crowd’s support.
