Two new maps, Bounty and Dealership, have been added to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Ranked Play for a trial period until Feb. 14, giving competitive players a fresh rotation ahead of CDL Major Two.
However, instead of excitement, the community’s reaction has been overwhelmingly negative, with cheaters and hackers dominating the conversation rather than the new additions.
New Ranked Maps Arrive—But Players Want a Better Anti-Cheat Instead
Treyarch announced on Feb. 5 that the new Season Two maps would enter Ranked Play for an evaluation period, determining if they would be included in the Call of Duty League’s competitive map pool.
Instead of discussing how the maps play, players flooded the comments with frustrations over cheaters, which continue to plague Ranked Play despite efforts to combat them.
- “Add a better anti-cheat,” one player demanded.
- “I don’t care, Ranked is filled with cheaters,” another responded.
The RICOCHET Anti-Cheat system has been under fire for months, with hackers disrupting matches and ruining the competitive experience. Even after an update in Season Two and the option for console players to disable crossplay, PC players are still exposed to cheaters—a problem that the anti-cheat team has yet to properly resolve.
Balance Issues and Community Concerns
Beyond the cheater problem, players have voiced concerns about overpowered weapons in Ranked Play, particularly the KSV, along with new Season Two guns like the PPSh-41 and Cypher 091. Many in the community are calling for restrictions to be placed on these weapons in competitive play, arguing that their power level disrupts game balance.
As for the new maps, Bounty and Dealership, initial reactions from players have been lukewarm. Some worry that the layouts may not be suitable for competitive play, while others remain indifferent, stating that the cheater issue outweighs any new map additions.
A Glimmer of Hope: Classic BO2 Map Grind Returning
One map that has sparked interest is the upcoming return of Grind, a fan-favorite map from Black Ops 2 that was previously part of BO2’s League Play mode. This classic location will arrive in Season Two Reloaded later this month, and some players hope it will be a more viable competitive map compared to the trial additions.
What’s Next for Ranked Play?
The trial period for Bounty and Dealership ends on Feb. 14, the same day as the Call of Duty League’s next match. Before then, Treyarch will need to decide whether the maps will become permanent additions to the pro circuit and which game modes they will be used for.
However, unless serious improvements are made to RICOCHET Anti-Cheat, players seem far more concerned about the hacker problem than any new map rotation.
Final Thoughts
For now, the Black Ops 6 Ranked Play experience remains a frustrating one for many, and unless Treyarch addresses the cheater crisis, the game’s competitive integrity will continue to be at risk.
