xQc recently commented on its desire to buy The Guard’s place in the VCT. Recall that, since the beginning of this year, xQc has shown interest in entering VALORANT esports. Undoubtedly, xQc is a content creator with the financial means to sign all the players in a VALORANT squad.
xQc says he wants to buy The Guard spot on the VCT
In xQc’s most recent webcast, the content creator informed all fans that he is considering signing the former VALORANT The Guard team. xQc reveals that he wants to sign the entire team to pursue a spot in the 2024 VCT.
Recall that the players who wore The Guard jerseys were crowned champions in the Ascension of the Americas tournament at the 2023 VCT. Responsible for this victory were the following players:
- Ian “tex” Botsch
- Jacob “valyn” Batio
- Jonah “JonahP” Pulice
- Michael “neT” Bernet
- Trent Cairns
Thanks to the Ascension tournament victory, these players can compete in the League of the Americas in the 2024 season.
The Guard’s problems in joining the VALORANT league
On the other hand, it is important to mention that The Guard’s organization experienced some problems recently, and consequently, the team could not join the league. Riot Games, for its part, resisted the Guard players, finding another organization to participate in the VCT. However, Riot Games decided to release the Guard players after criticism from the fan community. Currently, the players can be signed by xQc or any esports organization.
Although xQc has shown interest in signing former Guard players, the content creator knows that keeping this squad will be expensive. Should xQc sign these players, he must wait for Riot Games to approve the new team’s participation. However, given xQc’s reputation, Riot may not want to be linked with their name due to the advertisement of illegal gambling in their broadcasts.
xQc’s interest in VALORANT esports
xQc has shown its interest in being part of the VALORANT pro scene. Recall that in the past, Turtle Troop, a North American team that ran out of organization, was in talks with the content creator. However, xQc and Turtle Troop did not reach an agreement because, at the last second, the Canadian “ghosted.”
Now, xQc is once again showing interest in VALORANT esports by wanting to sign The Guard players. However, it is highly unlikely that the Canadian will be able to sign them, as there are rumors that large organizations such as FlyQuest and G2 are interested in signing the players.
