VALORANT: The future of Team Heroic for the 2024 season

VALORANT: The future of Team Heroic for the 2024 season

11. September 2023 by miranda angeles

Without a doubt, VALORANT’s 2024 season will be crucial for the game’s competitive landscape and its support ecosystem, and the teams know it. That’s why the Riot Games shooter’s transfer market is currently extremely active. All teams, except Fnatic, are making changes and decisions to close their squads for the upcoming season. Today, we will focus on Team Heroic.

The future of Team Heroic for the season of 2024

If we talk about the Spanish organization, we must first discuss how their year went. The team was eliminated in the first round of the VCT LOCK//IN Sao Paulo by Evil Geniuses, then they reached the VCT EMEA League but failed to qualify for the playoffs. Finally, to close the season, in the LCQ, they also lost in the first round against KOI.

Undoubtedly, with these results, it was necessary to make changes. Auni “AvovA” Chahade has already made his departure from the team official, and Wassim “keloqz” Cista is also expected to leave very soon. So the team would be left with Boo and Benjyfishy and Mixwell.

Now, according to rumors, apparently, the team might be thinking about forming the following squad:

  • Dominykas “MiniBoo” Lukasevicius (Duelist)
  • Ricardas “Boo” Lukasevicius (Smoker – IGL)
  • Benjy David “benjyfishy” Fish (Sentinel)
  • Enes “RieNs” Ecirli (Initiator)
  • Mert “Wo0t” Alkan (Flex)

New VCT VALORANT 2024 rules and regulations

It is important to note that the new rules of VCT VALORANT 2024 prohibit players under 18 from participating in the first level of VALORANT. Last year, as long as a player had participated in at least one local league split, this requirement could be waived. However, in the new season, Wo0t would be disadvantaged by this new regulation.

The star player that the Heroic team wants to sign does not turn 18 until March. However, the team would have already played the VCT EMEA KICK-OFF by that date. This tournament is precisely the one that will give the teams access to the Madrid Master, where only two teams from each region will be participating. With Fnatic as the main favorite to participate in this tournament and Heroic without its “best” player, the possibilities are fading. Now, the challenge for Team Heroic is to figure out how they will handle this situation.

Options for Team Heroic

On the one hand, Mixwell is rumored to play two splits instead of one at the VCT EMEA. Apparently, the player will remain on Team Heroic’s roster until Wo0t can play in the first level of VALORANT. Should Mixwell get to play with Team Heroic, the results may have a strong impact beyond the season. His departure from VALORANT Esports could be tarnished if he has bad results.

On the other hand, Team Heroic is apparently considering an emergency strategy, and that is to bring Weber back as a player. Remember that the team had already participated in several tournaments with the British coach. The advantage of being the coach is that he is familiar with the tactics because he attends all the training sessions. Weber has a superb AIM. Therefore, Wo0t could train with the team during this period, even if he cannot play. This would allow the team to acclimate to the new player, who would join them for the entire season.

Even though these are complex possibilities, Weber seems to be the most likely option. But we must wait and see what happens in the coming days.
