Team Bliss and The Chiefs merge to create the “ANZ powerhouse”

This is undoubtedly amazing news for the esports world. The Chiefs have merged with their rivals, Team Bliss; both organizations will work hand in hand to create a powerhouse for the region.

The agreement between Team Bliss and The Chiefs was announced on September 15 in a statement published by Team Bliss on their X/Twitter account. Completely unexpectedly, and at a time when esports are most volatile, the two organizations announced their merger due to the stagnation after the COVID-19 pandemic.

From the first moment Team Bliss joined the LoL Oceania circuit at the beginning of 2023, The Chiefs has been one of its strongest rivals. While The Chiefs managed to win two championships, Team Bliss had an impressive debut in the league. This team managed to finish behind The Chiefs. Unfortunately, these two teams did not perform well in the Pacific Championship Series.

On the other hand, the team’s AD made a joke on his Twitter account amid Team Bliss’ announcement of the merger. Samil “Leemas” Kip commented, “If you can’t beat them, buy them.” with this joke, the player referenced the two finals they had lost.

End of the rivalry between Team Bliss and The Chiefs

The rivalry between Team Bliss and The Chiefs has ended, thanks to Riot Games’ interest policies. Due to the merger between the teams, The Chiefs team is now a subsidiary of Team Bliss, meaning only one team can be enrolled in the LCO. Now, some players could be released in case there is no tier-two tournament. It is not known how this merger will take place at the moment. However, it is important to note that some player contracts end in November.

The future of The Chiefs

Recently, The Chiefs’ brand manager, Aiden Hiko, revealed in an interview that both organizations will continue to operate independently. In addition, Hiko has revealed that with this merger, the two organizations will grow more than ever before. On the other hand, Hiko commented that his organization is very happy to work with Team Bliss, who share his passion for esports and have the same aspirations in the industry.

However, the teams’ future will be known before the start of the 2024 season. We still have to wait to know who will be the players in this important squad.
