With the growing popularity of Apex Legends in the esports world, Electronic Arts has unveiled exciting details about the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Year 4. Here’s everything you need to know.

What’s New This Season

The ALGS Year 4 promises to be one of the most thrilling events in the Apex Legends esports scene. The highlights? A total prize pool of $5M, the introduction of Chinese teams, and three major LAN events.

Prize Breakdown

  • Split 1 Playoffs: $1M in prizes.
  • Split 2 Playoffs: $1M in prizes.
  • End-of-year Championship: $2M in prizes.

That’s a combined total of $4M spread across these three primary events.

Participation of Chinese Teams

The fourth edition will surprise with the inclusion of Chinese teams in the competition. Two Chinese teams will be invited to the Split 1 Playoffs. Depending on their performance, between two and four teams will be invited to the Split 2 Playoffs. This undoubtedly adds an interesting twist to the competition!

Changes and Adjustments

EA hasn’t held back on innovations for Year 4. While South America will no longer be represented in the Pro League, there is still an opportunity to qualify for LAN events through the South American Challenger Circuit. Moreover, the South American Regional Finals will not only determine which teams qualify but will also distribute $62,500 in prizes.

Regional Slot Distribution

The variety of teams from different regions is what makes ALGS so thrilling. Here’s the proposed distribution:

Split 1 Playoffs

  • 2 invited teams from China.
  • 2 teams from South America from the Split 1 Challenger Circuit.
  • 32 teams from the Split 1 Pro League Regular Season.

Split 2 Playoffs

  • At least 2 invited teams from China.
  • 2 teams from South America from the Split 2 Challenger Circuit.
  • 36 teams based on the performance of the Split 2 Pro League Regular Season.

Championship

  • 6 teams, being the top team from each region.
  • 26 teams with the highest points across both splits.
  • 8 additional teams through the Last Chance Qualifier.
