Valorant, Riot Games’ acclaimed tactical shooter, has taken a significant leap forward with the introduction of the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) China. As the professional competitive scene of Valorant evolves, the upcoming season is set to unveil exciting developments, including the addition of this new league to the International system, alongside the Americas, EMEA, and APAC.
Valorant’s Expansion into China: A Strategic Move
Valorant officially launched in China on July 12, three years after its initial global release. Despite this delayed entry, the game’s growth in the Asian giant has been undeniable. This expansion led Riot to extend the VCT, following the heightened interest from Chinese organizations to join the tour.
Announcing the VCT China Teams
Leo Faria, the Global Head of Valorant Esports, outlined the competitive plans for the 2024 season and officially introduced the participating teams for the VCT China. Initially, only three teams were announced, but now the complete list of contenders is available.
The VCT China Lineup:
- All Gamers
- Bilibili Gaming
- EDward Gaming
- FunPlus Phoenix
- JD Gaming
- Nova Esports
- Trace Esports
- Titan Esports Club
- TYLOO
- Wolves Esports
- To be announced (Champion of VCT Ascension China)
These ten organizations will compete to become the inaugural champion of the VCT China and elevate the region’s presence in international esports, much like Riot Games’ other titles. The eleventh and final slot will be filled following the VCT Ascension China, set for December 23.
Faria noted, “This group includes some of China’s largest esports organizations, many with a strong history in FPS games, and a new generation of teams looking to establish themselves in the Valorant scene.”
