The ALGS Year 4 Championship has entered an exciting phase, with the Group Stage now completed. Held at the Daiwa House PREMIST DOME in Sapporo, Japan, the competition saw Alliance, the Swedish esports organization, take the top spot with an impressive 162 points.
This puts them just ahead of Fnatic (APAC North) and Shopify Rebellion (North America), both of whom finished with 160 points.
Alliance’s Strong Performance
Over the course of the 18-game Group Stage, 40 teams from across the globe competed for spots in the Winners Bracket, and Alliance showed impressive consistency, managing to secure two map victories despite the fierce competition. Their performance helped them clinch the first-place finish in the Group Stage.
Notable Failures to Qualify for Winners Bracket
Despite their strong rankings in the ALGS standings, Luminosity Gaming (NA) and ENVY (NA), both heavyweights in the competitive scene, failed to qualify for the Winners Bracket.
ENVY, having only recently revived its roster after acquiring the former BLEED Esports squad, placed 21st overall. Luminosity, ranked 12th in the ALGS standings, was even further behind at 35th. As a result, both teams will now enter the Elimination Bracket Round 1, along with 18 other teams.
Top Performers in the Group Stage
- Fnatic and Noctem Esports were standout performers, with each team securing four map victories, making them the top teams in terms of map wins.
- Aurora Gaming and Gaimin Gladiators finished with three map wins each, while Alliance had two.
- Team Falcons, despite not securing a map win, displayed great consistency and finished in fourth place in the Group Stage, showing that steady performance can sometimes outweigh individual victories.
