The wait is over for Ranked Play in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Unlike past entries, players can now jump into competitive Ranked Play early in Season 1, which kicks off November 14, with Ranked Play starting on November 21.
This mode allows players to test their skills with settings, weapons, and rules mirroring those of the Call of Duty League, providing an authentic pro experience. From skill-based ranks to exclusive rewards, here’s everything you need to know.
What is Ranked Play in Black Ops 6?
In Black Ops 6, Ranked Play features competitive matches using league-standard modes (Hardpoint, Search and Destroy, and Control) and maps (to be announced). Players earn and lose Skill Rating (SR) points based on match performance, win margins, and proximity to projected rank. By accumulating SR, players advance through the following Skill Divisions:
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
- Diamond
- Crimson
- Iridescent
- Top 250
Treyarch aims to make this “the definitive ranked experience,” evolving from previous iterations in Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3. Improvements this year promise a balanced and challenging mode with fresh updates to the ranking system and map selection process.
New Features and Updates in BO6 Ranked Play
Ranked Play in Black Ops 6 has dropped previous game elements like Progressive Rank and Victory Stars, focusing instead on SR gains and losses. Here’s a look at new features and refinements:
- Map Vetos: Before each match, players see three map-and-mode combinations. Both teams vote to veto maps, with the final choice being either the non-vetoed map or a random pick from the two remaining options.
- Forfeit Option: In matches with large score disparities, players can forfeit instead of waiting out the full duration. This option becomes available at specific points:
- Hardpoint: After the winning team reaches 100 points
- Control: After the first round
- Search and Destroy: After the third round
- Party Adjustments and Loss Forgiveness: Players can party up with a four-player squad, with skill-based matchmaking reflecting the highest-ranked player’s SR. Additionally, players won’t lose SR for their first loss of the day, allowing for a less punishing experience.
Rewards in Black Ops 6 Ranked Play
Black Ops 6 offers a range of seasonal rewards, including rare skins for players reaching higher ranks. The ultimate prize is the Champion Skin, awarded to the player who finishes in first place each season. Other rewards include skins for Skill Divisions, seasonal items, and win-based challenges.
Ranked Play Release Date
Ranked Play launches November 21, shortly after Black Ops 6 Season 1 begins. Prepare to compete, climb the ranks, and earn exclusive rewards as Call of Duty continues to elevate the competitive experience.
