Return to The International

Cloud9’s new Dota 2 team will be making their debut at The International 2024, one of the most prestigious tournaments in the Dota 2 calendar. The team recently showcased a strong performance at Riyadh Masters 2024, making it to the playoffs.

Cloud9’s Tumultuous Dota 2 History

Cloud9 has had a rocky history with Dota 2, often featuring strong teams but rarely maintaining them for extended periods. Their first foray into Dota 2 in 2014 included notable players like Jacky “EternaLEnVy” Mao, SingSing, and Kurtis “Aui_2000” Ling.

This lineup saw multiple changes and even participated in one of the longest professional Dota 2 games in history, culminating in a presence at The International 2015 with Johan “N0tail” Sundstein.

Post-TI 2015, Cloud9 fielded a North American roster that lasted only two months. This pattern of frequent roster changes continued over the years, leading to their exit from the scene multiple times.

Cloud9 made a brief return in 2020 but ceased operations again in April of that year. Additionally, their partnership with veteran streamer and original Dota player SingSing ended in 2023.

A New Hope for Cloud9

Now, with the acquisition of the Entity roster, Cloud9 aims to re-establish itself in the Dota 2 scene. This team, which secured first place in the recent closed qualifiers for The International, brings new hope to the organization. Cloud9’s Dota 2 trophy cabinet has been collecting dust for years, but this talented group of players might just be the ones to bring home the gold.
