The grand finale of the VALORANT Champions of 2023 took place yesterday. Different notable personalities could be seen during this important esports event, from streamers and celebrities to professional players who were not competing. However, not everyone who attended VALORANT Champions was well received.
Among the celebrities attending the grand finale was Elon Musk. However, he was not well received in the audience and received a collective boo.
Elon Musk was not well received by the audience at the grand final of the 2023 VALORANT Champions
Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, was present at the grand finale of the VALORANT tournament yesterday, August 26. For his part, the VCT broadcast quickly identified him among some of the other celebrities inside the KIA Forum. But as soon as the cameras focused on Elon Musk, the audience expressed their true emotions and feelings towards him.
Although the image shot was a bit dark, and you could barely make out Elon Musk, the crowd quickly began to boo him. On Evil Geniuses’ big day, where they put on a great show winning this important trophy, the most negative sentiment was what the audience showed to Elon Musk.
For her part, Lauren “Pansy” Scott, one of the casters who was present at the event, had no choice but to comment on the scene. Pansy wondered if the raucous crowd reaction was much greater than the one TenZ got.
Sentinels pro player Tyson “TenZ” Ngo was also at the 2023 VALORANT Champions grand finale. However, the player received much more positive feedback on his appearance. Aside from the booing of Elon Musk, other personalities were present during the game breaks between rounds. However, none of these people had the same impact as Musk.

The public complains about Twitter’s name change
Elon Musk received boos when the VCT camera focused on him and another wave of boos when the round was starting, where EG had the lead against Paper Rex. The crowd gathered for another wave of booing at Musk, but this time specifically concerning Twitter’s name change to X. Over the game sound, the audience could be heard chanting, “Bring Twitter back!”.
Twitter, for its part, has been a great tool for esports. Over the years, this platform has provided a space for people to come together thanks to its centralized and individualistic features. Even major tournaments throughout the games post updates on the said platform. The VCT, on the other hand, at every break publishes a post with the news of the official broadcast.
However, veteran users and members of the esports community feel overwhelmed because they are losing what they knew as Twitter due to Elon Musk’s rebranding. That’s why the booing of Musk was persistent. Despite everything, the 2023 VALORANT Champions season has ended, leaving EG as the world champion.
