Fortnite Chapter 6: Major Battle Pass Changes Revealed

Fortnite Chapter 6: Major Battle Pass Changes Revealed

29. October 2024 by Valentin Pasetti

Fortnite is set to introduce a major overhaul to its Battle Pass system with the launch of Chapter 6. After years of a relatively unchanged structure, Epic Games is simplifying the progression experience, retiring the Battle Stars system and adjusting progression across other passes, such as the Festival and LEGO Pass.

Here’s a breakdown of the significant changes coming to Fortnite’s Chapter 6.

Battle Stars Retired in Chapter 6

In the current system, players earn Battle Stars by leveling up, which can then be used to unlock cosmetics. However, Epic Games has announced that the Battle Stars system will be retired on December 1, alongside other progression points like Festival Points and LEGO Studs.

The new Chapter 6 Battle Pass will solely rely on XP to unlock rewards, creating a more streamlined experience.

Unified Progression Across All Passes

This update affects not only the Battle Pass but also Fortnite’s other progression tracks, such as the Music Pass and LEGO Pass. Players will no longer need to earn separate points or currencies for each pass. Instead, earning XP through any game mode will contribute to progress in all active passes, allowing players to complete multiple passes simultaneously.

Pass Bundle and Single-Track System

Epic is also revamping how rewards are distributed within each pass. The current dual-track system (with separate Free and Premium Tracks) is being replaced by a single-track system with both free and premium rewards. Players will have the option to purchase premium rewards or unlock free ones as they progress through the track.

In addition, Epic Games is introducing a Pass Bundle that will allow players to buy all available passes at once. Although the Battle Pass, Music Pass, and LEGO Pass will still be available separately, the Pass Bundle will provide a convenient way to access all premium rewards in one purchase.

Rollout Timeline

  • Festival Points retired: November 2
  • Battle Stars and LEGO Studs retired: December 1
  • Chapter 6 Battle Pass goes live: Early December

Community Reaction and Final Thoughts

The community has responded positively, viewing these changes as a much-needed simplification. With a new, more intuitive XP-based system, Fortnite Chapter 6 is positioned to offer a smoother, more accessible experience across all of Fortnite’s content passes.
