Epic’s Strategy of Relaunching Skins
Epic Games has a history of relaunching past skins in Fortnite’s item shop. For instance, during the Origins season, popular skins like John Wick, complete with additional cosmetics from John Wick 3: Parabellum, and Black Widow’s outfit minus her Black Widow’s Bite pickaxe made their return.
Ernie the Chicken: A New Addition to Fortnite
The anthropomorphic chicken “Ernie” from Family Guy, famously known as Peter Griffin’s arch-nemesis, debuts in Fortnite. Players can now embody this character, known for causing chaos and destruction in Quahog, in both battle royale and creative mode maps.
Ernie the Giant Chicken’s Debut Collection:
- Bundle: The Giant Chicken – 2000 V-Bucks
- Outfit: The Giant Chicken – 1500 V-Bucks (includes the Frying Pan retro backpack)
- Emote: Peter Griffin’s Boxing Pear – 500 V-Bucks
- Pickaxe: Chicken Legs – 800 V-Bucks
However, the release of Ernie the anthropomorphic chicken has sparked debates within the Fortnite community, particularly on platforms like Reddit. Discussions have centered around the design comparison between Ernie and Peter Griffin, noting the noticeable difference in size depicted in the animated series.

Another Notable Collaboration: Raiden from Metal Gear
In addition to Ernie the Chicken, Fortnite’s item shop also introduced another significant collaboration this week – Raiden, the white demon mercenary from Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.
Available as part of a bundle priced at 1800 V-Bucks, it includes his sword as a retro backpack and pickaxe. However, these cosmetics are not available for individual purchase.
Takara and Ernie Triumphant Return to Fortnite
Fortnite continues to keep its community engaged with these exciting updates and collaborations. Whether you’re a fan of the classics like Takara or looking for something new with Ernie the Chicken or Raiden, Fortnite’s item shop has something for everyone.
