Riot Games has officially confirmed the return of Hextech Chests to League of Legends, starting with Act 2 in Patch 25.5. Alongside this major update, the cost of champions will be reduced, making them more accessible for all players.
Riot Games Responds to Community Concerns
The League of Legends community has been vocal about recent changes, expressing dissatisfaction with the removal of key features. Riot Games has taken this feedback seriously, deciding to bring back Hextech Chests with some modifications to better fit the current game environment.
How the New Hextech Chest System Works
While not identical to the previous system, the reintroduced Hextech Chests offer a valuable way for players to earn rewards. Here’s how they will be distributed:
- Players can earn up to 10 Hextech Chests per Act.
- 8 Hextech Chests will be available through the free Battle Pass.
- 2 additional Hextech Chests will be awarded via the new Honor system.
- Each chest will now include a key, eliminating the need to earn keys separately.
This ensures that players can still enjoy free content in League of Legends, a feature that has been widely requested since the removal of the previous Hextech Chest system.
Champion Price Reduction and Other Key Updates
In addition to the return of Hextech Chests, Riot Games has implemented another highly requested change:
- All champions will have their prices reduced by 50%, making them significantly easier to unlock.
Furthermore, Riot has promised additional improvements:
- More Blue Essence will be available in the premium Battle Pass.
- Ultimate skins will receive more attention and improvements after recent controversies, such as the backlash surrounding Mordekaiser’s skin.

- Your Shop will return in Patch 25.6.
- The Essence Emporium is confirmed for Patch 25.7.
- Clash tournaments will now be held monthly instead of every two months.
Riot’s Renewed Focus on Player Satisfaction
By reversing several unpopular decisions, Riot Games is making a clear effort to restore trust and improve the player experience. These changes reflect the company’s commitment to keeping League of Legends engaging and rewarding for both new and veteran players.
With Hextech Chests, champion price cuts, and major quality-of-life improvements, League of Legends is set to become more accessible and enjoyable than ever. Stay tuned for Patch 25.5 to experience these changes firsthand!
