Seven months after the release of Counter Strike 2, VALVE has introduced a highly requested feature that players have been asking for: the ability to switch the weapon to the left hand. This function, which was lost when transitioning from CS:GO to CS2,
Is now available in the new title. Here’s how to use it effectively and create a quick shortcut to change your weapon hand during Counter Strike 2 matches.
Changing Weapon Hand in CS2
In CS2, VALVE has streamlined the process of changing weapon hand compared to CS:GO. Instead of diving into the console, everything is now conveniently located in CS2’s settings. Follow these steps:
- Go to the “Settings” menu within Counter Strike 2.
- Navigate to “Game” -> “Objects”.
- Here, you’ll find the option “Preferred Dominant Hand in First-Person Model.” By default, CS2 has this option set to right, so you’ll need to change it if you want the weapon in your left hand.
IMPORTANT: Changing this setting will place your weapon on the selected side. However, for optimal in-game adjustment, assign a key.
Assigning a Key to Change Weapon Hand in CS2
Assigning or binding a key to perform an action is common in Counter Strike 2. If you want to switch the hand you hold your weapon in, follow these steps:
- Go to the “Settings” menu within Counter Strike 2.
- Navigate to “Keyboard/Mouse” -> “Weapon Keys”.
- Here, you’ll find the key “Change Dominant Hand in First-Person Model.” Typically, this function won’t have a key assigned, so choose a comfortable key for yourself.
Once this is done, you can use this key to switch the weapon hand during your CS2 matches, alternating between right or left.
Note: The default hand at the start of a match will always be the one selected in the first part of this guide.
Tips for Using this Function
When using this function, it’s best to prioritize personal comfort. Neither the left nor the right hand provides any advantage over the other; it’s purely a matter of preference. The advantage of using this function during Counter Strike 2 matches is to position the weapon on the side that provides a clearer first-person view.
