The 2024 League of Legends Pro League (LPL) awards ceremony crowned its stars for the year, and Zhuo “Knight” Ding made history by clinching the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the second consecutive season.
This achievement makes Knight the first player in LPL history to win the prestigious title in back-to-back years, solidifying his place among the game’s all-time greats.
A Milestone Achievement for Knight
Knight’s stellar performance with Bilibili Gaming (BLG) earned him the 2024 LPL MVP award. Known for his unmatched skill in the mid-lane, Knight led BLG through an impressive season both domestically and internationally.
What makes this achievement remarkable is that Knight also claimed the MVP title in 2023 while playing for JD Gaming. Transitioning to BLG, he proved his adaptability and dominance by securing the award again, an unprecedented feat in the history of the LPL.
BLG’s Rise to Prominence
Bilibili Gaming has been a powerhouse in the LPL in recent years, consistently showcasing their strength at the global level. Though BLG fell just short of claiming the World Championship title, they demonstrated their elite status, with Knight at the center of their success.
In addition to Knight’s MVP accolade, four of BLG’s players earned spots in the 2024 LPL All-Pro Team:
- Bin (Top Lane)
- Xun (Jungle)
- Knight (Mid Lane)
- Elk (AD Carry)
The only position not dominated by BLG was support, where Tian “Meiko” Ye of Invictus Gaming took the honors.
Knight’s International Success
Beyond domestic achievements, Knight’s international performance has been equally remarkable. Over the last two years, he has appeared in the finals of three out of four major global tournaments. His crowning moment came in 2023 when he led JD Gaming to victory at the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI).
Additionally, Knight has been recognized multiple times as the Best Mid-Laner in the LPL, further cementing his dominance in one of the most competitive leagues in League of Legends.
Key Highlights of Knight’s Legacy
- Back-to-Back MVP Titles: The first LPL player to achieve this milestone (2023 and 2024).
- International Excellence: Finalist in three of the last four global events.
- Best Mid-Laner: Consistently recognized as the top player in his role.
- Team Leadership: Instrumental in BLG’s domestic and international success.
The Future for Knight and BLG
As the 2025 competitive season looms, expectations for Knight and Bilibili Gaming remain sky-high. With their core roster intact and Knight continuing to perform at his peak, BLG looks poised to contend for their first World Championship title.
