Format Changes and Regional Impact
Significant changes in the tournament format are also in store. The winner of the 2024 edition will secure a guaranteed spot in the 2024 World Championship in London, thereby granting their region an additional slot in the competition. Additionally, the runner-up team will also earn an extra slot for their region.
Participating Teams
MSI 2024 will feature 12 teams, including representatives from the LPL, LCK, LCS, LEC, as well as one team from each of the LLA, CBLOL, PCS, and VCS leagues.
Second seeds from the LEC, LCS, LCK, and LPL leagues will compete against teams from different regions in two double-elimination brackets, with the winners and runners-up advancing to the next stage. They will then join the other four teams in a single double-elimination bracket, culminating in the Grand Finals played in a best-of-five format.
