Nintendo has officially unveiled the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. In an exciting Nintendo Direct that lasted an hour, the company revealed all the key details about their next-generation console, promising a significant evolution in gaming.
1080p and 120Hz: A New Era for Nintendo Switch 2
One of the most requested upgrades from players of the original Nintendo Switch was an improved display with higher resolution and better frame rates. Nintendo has listened to the community and has announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 will feature a 7.9-inch LCD screen with 1080p resolution.
Additionally, thanks to the new docking station, users will be able to experience games at 120 fps and a resolution of up to 4K when connected to a TV. To address overheating concerns, the dock will include a built-in cooling fan to maintain optimal performance.

New Magnetic Joy-Con Controllers
Another major improvement comes with the new Joy-Con controllers. Previously, leaks hinted at magnetically attached Joy-Cons, and this has now been confirmed. But that’s not all—these upgraded controllers will also function as precision mouse devices, opening up possibilities for a wider range of game genres on the console.

Improved Stand and Dual USB-C Ports
While the original Nintendo Switch was designed for gaming on the go, many players found the built-in stand unreliable. Nintendo Switch 2 solves this issue with a stronger, adjustable stand that allows for multiple viewing angles.
Furthermore, the new console will feature two USB-C ports: one at the bottom, like its predecessor, and an additional port on the top for more convenient charging and connectivity.
Upgraded CPU and GPU for Enhanced Performance
Nintendo has significantly upgraded both the CPU and GPU of the Nintendo Switch 2, resulting in:
- Faster processing speeds for seamless gameplay.
- Improved graphics rendering for a more immersive experience.
- Better energy efficiency to extend battery life during portable play.
Expanded Internal Storage: 256GB Memory
Storage has been a major limitation of the original Nintendo Switch, which only offered 32GB of internal memory. Nintendo Switch 2 now features 256GB of internal storage, allowing players to store more games and downloadable content without needing an additional microSD card.

New Ways to Play: Game Compatibility and GameShare Feature
Nintendo confirmed that many titles from the Nintendo Switch will be compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2, both digitally and physically.
Additionally, Joy-Cons and the Pro Controller from the original console will work with the Nintendo Switch 2, ensuring seamless transition for existing players.
A groundbreaking new feature called GameShare will also be introduced. This will allow users to share their games with another player who does not own the title, even between different generations of consoles (Nintendo Switch 1 and 2).
