Overwatch Mobile Could Become a Reality: Blizzard and Nexon Reportedly Working on a New Game

Overwatch, once a revolutionary hero shooter, could soon experience a major comeback — but this time, on mobile devices. Despite the promising release of Overwatch 2, Blizzard has struggled to regain its former dominance. Now, it appears that a new project may be the company’s next big move.

Overwatch 3 Might Be a Mobile MOBA, Not a Hero Shooter

According to South Korean outlet Money Today Broadcasting, Blizzard has reached a deal with Nexon to develop Overwatch 3 exclusively for smartphones. However, this game would not follow the hero shooter formula of its predecessors. Instead, Overwatch Mobile is expected to be a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena), shifting the gameplay experience dramatically.

Who Is Nexon?

Nexon is a renowned South Korean developer and publisher headquartered in Japan. Specialized in online gaming, Nexon has produced several successful mobile titles such as:

  • – Counter Side
  • – Dark Avenger 3
  • – FIFA Mobile
  • – KonoSuba: Fantastic Days
  • – Traha
  • – V4

Blizzard Might Also Be Reviving StarCraft

In addition to the rumored Overwatch Mobile project, MTB reports that Blizzard and Nexon are discussing new developments under the StarCraft IP. Although details remain unclear, speculation about a potential StarCraft IV is growing rapidly among fans. For StarCraft franchise news, check this external source.

However, there are concerns about distribution rights. Blizzard has reportedly stipulated that Nexon’s distribution would be limited to Korea and Japan, raising doubts about the game’s global release potential.
