The landscape of gaming platforms is often defined by the titles they offer. Are you a PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, or PC gamer? For many, the choice boils down to the games available. To enhance its offerings, consoles have provided free games over the years through subscription models. Sony’s PlayStation Plus is no exception.
What is PlayStation Plus?
PlayStation Plus is a paid subscription service available monthly or annually, enabling PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players to engage in online gaming across a range of titles.
To enrich the service, Sony also offers free games each month for users to permanently add to their library. Previously, this offering was split and known as PlayStation Now, but Sony merged the services. The plans are divided into three tiers:
- PS Plus Essential: €71.99 per year
- PS Plus Extra: €125.99 per year
- PS Plus Premium: €151.99 per year
Free Games of the Month on PS Plus
All free games for May will be available starting next Tuesday, May 7th, until June 3rd, with one exception: EA Sports FC 24 available until June 17th.
EA Sports FC 24
EA Sports FC 24, the premier football simulator, will be available until May 17th. PS Plus offers this title at this time as the football season comes to a close, with leagues, cups, and the Champions League wrapping up.
Ghostrunner 2
Ghostrunner 2, released in late 2023, is set one year after the first Ghostrunner. Set in a cyberpunk aesthetic, the game sees humanity’s last refuge following the fall of Keymaster, a tyrant. The sequel boasts enhanced combat mechanics against bosses, expanded world exploration, and increased skill flexibility for heightened creativity.
Tunic
Tunic, developed by Andrew Shouldice and released in 2022, follows the story of a fox awakening on a beach, unaware of what transpired. Equipped with a sword and shield, the fox embarks on an adventure, featuring structures and visuals reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda, predominantly viewed from an isometric perspective.
Destiny 2: Eclipse
Destiny 2 players will receive the Eclipse expansion, venturing to Neptune to confront the Cloud Riders and battle the Shadow Legion. This chapter is significant as it marks one of the final expansions before Bungie concludes the Destiny saga with The Final Shape, set to wrap up the narrative that began with the initial Destiny release.
Conclusion
PlayStation Plus continues to elevate the gaming experience by offering a diverse array of titles each month, enticing players with a mix of established franchises and innovative new experiences.
The inclusion of EA Sports FC 24 among May’s free offerings adds further value, catering to sports enthusiasts and expanding the subscription’s appeal across gaming genres.
