Pokémon GO’s highly anticipated Halloween event is back for 2024, bringing more thrills with the introduction of Morpeko and Dynamax Gastly. Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of this spooky event.
Event Overview
Like previous years, the Halloween 2024 event will be split into two parts. The first part runs from October 22 to October 28, while details for part two will be revealed later in the month. Expect plenty of Timed Research tasks and exclusive rewards throughout the event!
Morpeko’s Pokémon GO Debut
The spotlight for this year’s event is on Morpeko, the mischievous Pokémon from the Galar Region. Morpeko has a unique ability to change its form during battle.
In Full Belly Mode, it uses the move Aura Wheel (Electric), but after attacking, it transforms into Hangry Mode, where it becomes a Dark-type and gains access to Aura Wheel (Dark). This marks the first time in Pokémon GO that a Pokémon can change forms mid-battle!
To catch Morpeko, you’ll need to participate in the GO Battle League. Morpeko is available as a reward throughout the Max Out season and will continue to be a reward for reaching Rank 16. Players on the Premium Track will have a higher chance of encountering Morpeko compared to the standard track.
Dynamax Gastly Arrives in Pokémon GO
Another major addition to the Halloween 2024 event is the introduction of Dynamax Gastly. You can find Dynamax Gastly in one-star Max Battles at Power Spots in your area. Once caught, you can evolve Dynamax Gastly into a Dynamax Gengar, perfect for future Max Out battles.
Timed Research and Event Rewards
Along with these exciting new Pokémon, there are also special Timed Research missions during part one of the Halloween event. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect:
- Free Timed Research: Available to all players during the event, starting on October 22.
- Paid Timed Research Tickets:
- The first ticket gives players a chance to catch exclusive costumed Pokémon debuting in part two of the Halloween event.
- The second ticket offers a chance to capture past costumed Pokémon from previous Halloween events, such as Spooky Festival Vulpix and Mischief Drifblim.

The Halloween part one event kicks off on October 22 and is free for all players. Whether you’re after Morpeko in the GO Battle League or eager to catch Dynamax Gastly in Max Battles, there’s plenty to look forward to.
