Snorlax, one of the most beloved Pokémon in the franchise, is set to become the star of the upcoming Max Battles Day in Pokémon Go. Niantic recently announced via social media that Snorlax Gigamax will make its first-ever appearance in Max Battles. Here’s everything you need to know.
Snorlax Gigamax Debuts in Max Battles
The Snorlax Gigamax Max Battles Day will take place on April 19, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM (local time).
Remember, these battles are available from Level 6 onwards, and with some luck, you might even encounter a Shiny Snorlax.

Event Bonuses
During the event, players will enjoy the following exclusive bonuses:
- Maximum of 1,600 collected particles
- Gigamax battles available at all energy nodes
- Energy nodes will refresh more frequently
- Max Particles x8 at energy nodes
- Two additional special trades
These bonuses will be active on April 19 from 12:00 AM to 5:00 PM (local time).

New Temporary Research Event
Starting April 16 at 6:00 PM (local time), a new Temporary Research Event will be available, lasting until April 19 at 5:00 PM (local time).
Completing this research will allow trainers to encounter Dynamax Pokémon, leading to the opportunity to capture Snorlax Gigamax.
Additionally, participants will earn exclusive rewards, including:
- Candy and Max Particles
- Access to a premium event-exclusive research for $5

What is a Max Mushroom?
The Max Mushroom is a special item that temporarily doubles the damage inflicted by your Dynamax and Gigamax Pokémon.
- Its effect can be extended by using multiple Max Mushrooms consecutively.
- If used from your Bag in the waiting room, you’ll see whether other trainers have also used Max Mushrooms.
