After the success of Teamfight Tactics’ first Set Revival, Riot is back again in Patch 14.19 with the second TFT Set Revival, this time going back to 2021 for TFT Set 5.5.
Following a rocky start with TFT: Reckoning, the mid-set update brought players new mechanics that continue to influence gameplay today. TFT Set 5.5 is returning, offering a familiar yet refreshed experience.
Set Mechanics: A Mix of Old and New
It wouldn’t be Set 5.5 without players experiencing all the champions and traits from the classic set. Returning are the Radiant items and the beloved “Stimmy”, both functioning just as players remember.
At the end of Stage 3, an armory will present players with a choice of a Radiant item to boost their team. Moreover, players dipping below 40 health will receive a “Radiant Blessing,” a golden orb filled with loot to help regain their footing in the game.
Release Date
TFT Set 5.5 Revival hits live servers on Wednesday, September 25.
New Additions
Though originally, Set 5.5 did not include Portals and Augments, players will now enjoy these mechanics for the first time in this revival. Riot has introduced brand-new hero augments to enhance gameplay. For example, one Hero augment transforms Thresh, a frontline tank, into a backline diving carry.
However, not all mechanics made the cut. The TFT Set 12 system mechanic, Charms, will not be present in this revival, but players can utilize all the new items released since the set’s original launch, including the recently introduced Golden Frying Pan.
Special Progression Mode
Unlike the first TFT Set Revival, which lacked a ranked mode, the TFT Set 5.5 Revival features a special progression system designed to enhance replay value. This progression track functions similarly to a battle pass, rewarding players with “SP” as they compete in matches. Players start as Apprentice and strive to progress to Visionary, unlocking special rewards at specific ranks.
Upon reaching new ranks, players can select a “Skill” that grants additional SP for fulfilling certain conditions. For instance, the “Tempo Master” skill, available at the Apprentice level, provides bonus SP for every player combat won. As players advance, they can unlock and equip various skills, enriching their gameplay experience.
Conclusion
The TFT Set 5.5 Revival is poised to rekindle excitement among players with its mix of nostalgic elements and fresh mechanics. Whether you’re returning to the game or diving in for the first time, there’s plenty to explore.
