VALORANT’s new season does not start until February, but Riot already gave a sneak peek last weekend. Indeed, the only VALORANT Masters tournament of 2023 will be held in Tokyo, Japan.
VALORANT fans have been looking forward to the start of the new season of their favourite FPS for months. Indeed, the 2022 season ended back in September with LOUD’s victory at VALORANT Champions. The next major tournament is not expected until February.

Riot is cleverly taking advantage of this period to reveal details about 2023. Last weekend, we found out a little more about the next VALORANT Masters, where the best teams from the three franchised leagues will compete for a ticket to VALORANT Champions, the official FPS World Cup.
Previous editions of that tournament have been held in European cities such as Copenhagen, Berlin and Reykjavik, but will take place outside Europe for the first time in 2023. Riot chose Tokyo, the capital of Japan. Where exactly the tournament will take place has not yet been revealed, nor was a date announced.
The announcement is undoubtedly a nice surprise for Japanese fans of the FPS. VALORANT is hugely popular on the Asian continent and, with ZETA DIVISION, has a Japanese team competing at the top of esports.
Riot Games aims to make VALORANT a completely global esport by 2023. LOCK IN, the first event of next season, will take place in February in São Paolo, Brazil. Matches from the three franchised leagues will then be played again in Los Angeles, Berlin and Seoul.
