Valve has expanded its innovative skin rental feature in Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), allowing players to rent skins from any case following the latest update on November 28, 2024.
Initially limited to the Kilowatt case introduced in May, the new update now permits players to rent skins from every case in the game, past and future, under the same rental system.
How to Rent Skins in CS2
The process for renting skins in CS2 remains straightforward and requires the following:
- A Rentable Case: Any CS2 case is now eligible.
- A Matching Case Key: Obtainable through purchase or trade.
To rent, follow these steps:
- Open CS2 and navigate to your inventory.
- Select the case you want to rent and click “Unlock Container.”
- If the case is rentable, choose the “Open to Rent” option and confirm.
- The case and key will be consumed, and you will gain access to all skins (except knives and gloves) from the case for 7 days.
After the rental period ends, the skins will automatically be removed from your inventory.
Rental Restrictions and Details
While the system offers exciting opportunities, there are important limitations to note:
- Excluded Items: Knives and gloves are not included in the rental system.
- Condition of Skins: The quality of rented skins (e.g., Factory New, Battle-Scarred) is randomly determined, just like unboxing.
- One Case at a Time: Players can only rent one case collection at a time. Once the 7-day rental ends, they can rent another case.
- No Customization: Stickers cannot be applied, and rented skins cannot be renamed.
- Souvenir Packages: These are not eligible for rental.
What This Means for CS2 Players
The expansion of the skin rental system adds a layer of accessibility for players who want to try out their favorite skins without committing to full purchases. With all cases now eligible, the system provides players a unique opportunity to explore CS2’s cosmetic offerings in a cost-effective way.
Final Toughts
Whether you’re a casual player or a collector looking to test a new skin lineup, this update ensures a broader range of customization and experimentation.
Stay tuned for future updates as Valve continues to innovate and expand the CS2 experience!
