According to Virtus Pro CEO, Nikolai Petrossian, the organization is determined to make an impact with this lineup:

“I know how much our fans have been waiting for a new Dota 2 roster. It’s been one of our top priorities, and we’ve used every resource available to make it happen. We explored many options, including rebuilding around players from the previous roster, but ultimately decided to go with a full reset. This gives us the opportunity to start fresh, without the pressure of past results.

The players on our new roster are well known within the community. They have a recognizable playstyle, strong individual skill, and solid potential for progress. The upcoming bootcamps will be key in helping them bond into a cohesive team capable of achieving top-level results. The main goals will be qualifying for the Esports World Cup and The International — and performing well at both events.”

Virtus Pro Acquires Chimera Esports’ Core Roster

Observant fans have noticed that four out of the five players on Virtus Pro’s roster previously played for Chimera Esports. While Daxak had already left Chimera, he spent most of 2025 with them, even competing in DreamLeague 25.

The only former Chimera Esports player who did not join Virtus Pro is Panto, who is currently playing for Aurora.

Virtus Pro Inches Closer to the Esports World Cup

While this roster move may seem like just another transfer, it significantly impacts the EPT Rankings leading up to Riyadh Masters 2025. With this acquisition, Virtus Pro secures Chimera Esports’ previous spot in the EPT Rankings, where they stood at 7th place. Given that the top 8 teams earn a direct invite to the Esports World Cup, this move puts Virtus Pro in a strong position.

However, their qualification is not guaranteed yet. By skipping the upcoming ESL One Raleigh, Virtus Pro risks being overtaken in the EPT Rankings. To solidify their position, they must qualify for DreamLeague 26 and deliver a strong performance in the final Season 3 tournament.

Virtus Pro’s decision to completely reset its Dota 2 roster is a bold strategy that could either secure them a spot in the Esports World Cup or leave them struggling for qualification. Their immediate challenges include ensuring DreamLeague 26 participation and navigating their newly acquired EPT Ranking position.

As the competitive season heats up, Virtus Pro’s journey will be one to watch closely. Stay tuned for further updates on their performance, upcoming tournaments, and potential roster adjustments.
