Warzone: Hackers Could Ban Players and Crash Lobbies While a Fix is in Development

Call of Duty’s Warzone is currently facing a series of pressing issues, as players report continued problems with hacking and cheating in the game. The situation has become particularly turbulent, leading to frustrated players and content creators leaving for other games while the developers work on a solution.

Activision has been addressing the ongoing hacking issue in Warzone, but the fixes aren’t expected to arrive anytime soon, especially with the holiday season approaching.

Players are continuing to encounter new types of cheats, some of which allow hackers to mass-report players, triggering RICOCHET Anti-Cheat and causing innocent players to be shadow-banned. Other cheats can even crash entire lobbies, disrupting the gaming experience for everyone involved.

New Hacks Exploiting the System

A recent social media post from a player highlighted one of the new cheats, where hackers reportedly can report a player up to 100 times, which could result in the player being removed from the servers while their account is reviewed.

Another cheat is reportedly able to kick players out of the game, effectively crashing the lobby for everyone. This adds to the frustration, as players try to enjoy the game amidst these disruptive actions.

Activision’s Response and Timeline

Activision has acknowledged the issue, with Raven Software confirming in a recent tweet that cheating remains their top priority, especially within the Ranked Play environment.

They expressed their commitment to working closely with the RICOCHET Anti-Cheat team to identify and address the sources of cheating. However, it appears that a significant fix won’t be rolled out before the holiday break, and improvements will take some time.

Previously, Activision admitted that it “did not hit the mark” with its Anti-Cheat system for both Black Ops 6 and Warzone, particularly in Ranked Play.

The company had promised updates for its kernel-level driver in Season 2, as well as additional server-side protections in Season 3, but these changes are still some time away—meaning the cheating problem is likely to persist for at least a few more months.

Additional Issues and Upcoming Improvements

In addition to cheating, Warzone continues to struggle with other issues, such as server performance and game stability. Raven Software has stated they are prioritizing server performance and working on key updates to movement for improved fluidity. They are also addressing various bugs related to Perks and challenges.

Upcoming quality-of-life changes include faster mantle speeds, rebalanced Perks, updates to the Combat Records, and the ability to close doors while running, which should enhance the overall feel of the game. However, most of these improvements are expected to be available shortly after the holidays.

Conclusion

While Warzone players are eagerly awaiting fixes for cheating and other persistent issues, it seems the solution won’t be here just yet. Activision and Raven Software have committed to addressing the problems but have also acknowledged that Warzone will continue to struggle with these issues for the next few months.

Players will have to wait for Season 2 and Season 3 updates to make significant progress on improving the experience. In the meantime, gamers may need to brace for continued disruptions due to cheating and server performance issues.
