Recently Shroud, Just9n and Skadoodle played CS:GO together and decided to invite the two streaming giants xqc and Tarik to play together. They actually had time and joined the troupe. At the end of the match, Shroud said, half-jokingly, half-seriously, that they could form a CS:GO team. Could the five players really form a team together?
Whether Tarik, Skadoodle, Just9n, xqc and Shroud will really form a team is still up in the air, but on the other hand it is not such a stupid idea. Every now and then there have been teams with well-known pros or ex-players that have caused a sensation. And all 5 players have great potential and are names that are well known in the scene. Therefore, a team composition would even be quite realistic and the team would certainly have an extremely large fan base right from the start!
Here is a small overview of HOW successful the players are:
- Shroud 6.8 million followers on Youtube and 10.5 million on Twitch.
- xqc has 2.24 million followers on Youtube and 11.7 million on Twitch. He is contracted with Luminosity Gaming and creates content for the organization.
- Tarik has 760,000 followers on Youtube and 2.5 million on Twitch. He is a 26-year-old Turkish-American ex-pro living in NYC.
- Skadoodle plays VALORANT for T1, is also an ex-CS:GO Pro and has 119,000 followers on Youtube and 584k on Twitch.
- Justin Ortiz aka Just9n has around 50,000 followers on Youtube and 435k on Twitch
Does Shroud even have time for a CS:GO team?
However, the 5 pros are really busy and that of course makes it complicated to create a team. Mike “shroud” Grzesiek is currently stuck in a particularly consuming occupation. Heand Chris “Sacriel” Ball have finally realized one of their biggest dream projects: they have teamed up with Splash Damage, a British video game development company, to create a AAA open-world survival game that will be called Project Astrid.
“This project means everything to me,” Shroud said. “Chris and I have a vision for what’s next in the survival genre, and together with Splash Damage, we’re setting out to make it happen. We want to make the best survival game ever, and with Sacriel’s mind and the team at Splash Damage, I know we can do it.”
Chance for new team with CS2?
Although Shroud is deep into its own project right now, it could still be possible that we see a CS:GO team with the streamers soon. The new CS:GO aka CS2 is also already in the starting blocks and could be THE chance for the Shroud team. As released yesterday, the new CS:GO will be playable this summer. Valve also released three videos for the new CS 2, giving the CS:GO community a great treat.
In addition, there is a new website for CS2 and the limited test phase also started with the closed BETA. In the 3 videos that Valve has released, the CS:GO developer explains various things of the new CS 2 such as map designs and new smoke mechanics. According to the videos, the new version should be released in the summer of 2023.
The limited test period for Counter-Strike 2 is starting now, and Valve explained via Twitter who all will be getting in on the fun: “Player selection for the Counter-Strike 2 limited test is based on a number of factors deemed important by the Counter-Strike 2 development team, including (but not limited to) recent playtime on Valve’s official servers, trust factor, and Steam account reputation.”
So while we all eagerly await CS2, it could also possibly be that we will soon see yet another fantastic new CS:GO team full of high profile players, including Shroud and xqc!
